Arkansas is a state that is divided by the broad swath of the Arkansas River and bordered to the east by the Mighty Mississippi. The "Natural State" is home to high wooded escarpments, plunging sandstone gorges and flat plains of lush farmland. Harrison and Boone county are in North Central Arkansas which is often called the crossroads of the Ozarks. Newton County to the south is the center of the Boston Range of the Ozarks and the origin point for the Buffalo National River.

Arkansas has earned distinction as the Natural
State as not only in recognition of the incredible
natural beauty of our state, but also for the diversity
of landscapes to be found here. The two major natural
regions consist of the interior highlands in the northwestern
third of the state and the flat coastal plains which comprise the
rest of the state. The highlands include the wooded rises and
numerous caves of the Ozark Mountains, the narrow ridges of
the Ouachita Mountains and the deep folds of the Arkansas River
Valley.
Cities and Towns in our area
Locally, Harrison is the business center of the surrounding five counties. Tucked away in Newton County is Jasper and Boxley Valley which are starting points for all Buffalo National River activities. Statewide, Little Rock, the Capital of Arkansas, is located in the center of the state is
the chief commercial center. To the west,Fayetteville, in the northwestern corner of the state, is an important agricultural distribution center as well as home to
the University of Arkansas. Close by, Eureka Springs is a historic mountain resort area made up of Victorian homes and artists from all over the world. Branson and Springfield Missouri are an easy drive on divided highway with lots of entertainment and shopping.
Economy
Harrison is home of Fedex Freight and numerous manufacturing companies with nationwide customers.The Boone county airport offers daily air service to Memphis which is a hub for Delta Airlines and the new Branson airport offers direct service to Atlanta. Fayetteville and Springfield provide additional routes to all major destinations.
Culture
For a small town Harrison has a lot to offer. The Ozark Arts Council owns and operates the Lyric Theater which offers a year round schedule of plays,concerts and art events. The Harrison Art League is an active group of amateur and professional artists who regularly display and demonstrate at the Friday Night on the Square art walk. Local schools and churches also provide a full schedule of cultural events. On any given weekend you can find a music festival or art event within easy driving distance and Branson Missouri with its year-round attractions is only thirty minutes from the Harrison square.
